It is against the law not to clean up after your dog. Small plastic sacks are available from many shops for a very low price and are ideal for cleaning up after your dog. Anyone identified allowing his/her dog to foul in a public place will be issued with a fine of up to €150.
To report incidents of dog fouling, please contact the Dog Control Section at 01-205 4771. The council can only tackle this problem if they can identify the offenders, so please report them when you see them straightaway!

Thanks for the update Julie and for all your ongoing work. Can anything be suggested in relation to fouling by cats? I’ve witnessed cats fouling lawns in the neighbourhood and have had to clean up our own lawn many times. I don’t like using sprays/ powders designed to discourage animal fouling for environmental and cost reasons. Maybe there are other remedies someone could suggest perhaps ?
Thanks 🙂

Hi Colin, thanks for your comment.
I don’t know if there is anything anybody can do about cats as they roam freely.
The only suggestion I could make is if you know whose cat is was, you could let the owner know. I hope it wasn’t one of mine, if it was please let me know and I’ll be very quick in cleaning it up!
If anybody else has any suggestions, please let us know.
