Who is responsible for cleaning the footpaths in the estate?

A number of residents have approached committee members in the last week and at the clean up regarding the state of the footpaths within The Gallops.

Some folks are under the impression that DLRCC are responsible for cleaning the footpaths and maintaining the grass verges outside their properties. However this is not the case – the householder, be they owner occupier or tenant, are responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of both.

We have also noticed that where the footpaths have not been cleared of leaves, small branches and twigs are hazardous for anyone using the paths particularly at night. We ourselves had to walk on roads in certain parts of the estate because the footpaths were treacherous with wet/frozen leaves. Where an area is not being maintained we also noticed significant dog fouling.

So we would like to remind people to maintain the footpath and grass verges outside their property please, so our neighbourhood looks well maintained and is safe for all of us to walk on. Thank you very much.
