Our Annual Open Meeting last week

The Gallops meeting minutes 2016Thanks to all the residents who turned out for our Annual Open Meeting in Holy Trinity School last Thursday, November 30th. We are also grateful to Minister Shane Ross and Catherine Martin TD, who took time out of their busy schedules to attend. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for our local county councillors, from whom we had no representation at the meeting for the first time ever. Finally, thank you to Principal James Tobin for allowing us to use the school to host the meeting.

The meeting included an update from our local community gardai, which was both informative and entertaining, with Sargeant Ivan Howlin in particular keeping the audience engaged with his energetic style. This was followed by an update from me, as Chairman, about what the GRA has been doing on behalf of residents during 2017.

It has been a very productive year for the GRA which started with the launch of our great new website and a new garda text alert group in the first few months of the year and ended with the Council finally agreeing to put a solar compactor bin in the playground after years of persistence by the Committee. In between, we held a record number of estate clean-ups (ten) and organised a number of significant maintenance projects such as the landscaping of the area behind the Gallops Luas station at Glencairn Crescent, new road signs on Glencairn Rise and Glencairn Oaks and the planting of flowers around the estate signs at both entrances.

We look forward to building on these successes in 2018 and continuing to make the Gallops a great estate to live in. Finally, on behalf of the Committee, I would like to wish you and your families a very Happy Christmas.
