The Gallops Play Area Redevelopment

A new exciting play space is proposed to replace the existing playground in the Gallops. The
playground has been designed and developed per the objectives of the Dun
Laoghaire Rathdown County Council Play Policy 2023-2028. It takes into account the wishes of
the local community who put their ideas and requirements forward during the public consultation
that took place in late 2023.
The new play area caters to children of all ages (toddler to teen) and abilities. It offers
huge play value in terms of formal play pieces with various multi-play units, swings, slides
and climbing opportunities. It has been expanded into the adjacent open space, allowing more natural play, interaction and socializing.
The play area is designed to be inclusive and accessible for children of all abilities. It contains a
range of sensory pieces (sand area, garden area and musical pieces), the paths are wheelchair
accessible and assessable equipment is integrated into the space with appropriate accessible
safety surfacing and a communication board will also be provided.
Seating and accessible picnic benches will be provided. The redevelopment works
are expected on site from the 24th of June with a view to completion by mid-August.

    Kind regards

  3. Looks amazing, thanks for working to get this done. It is a shame that it’ll mean existing facilities will be out of commission for the summer, and I think the timing could have been considered more thoroughly, but I’m still glad our kids will have better facilities moving forward.
